Large Vintage Italian Silver Plated Hinged Scallop Shell Serving Dish - Carminati Roma. A truly spectacular and decorative piece from the renowned Roman silversmith Carminati Roma. This large clamshell-form serving dish is crafted in silver plate and features beautifully applied cast sea creature decorations to the lid - including a starfish and conch shell motifs - giving it a wonderful naturalistic, nautical character.

Generously sized interior bowl ideal for serving seafood, fruit, or as a statement centrepiece. The scalloped shell edge is finely detailed and the ribbed form is impressively sculptural. Maker: Carminati, Roma (original paper label present on exterior).

Material: Silver plate over base metal. Condition: Vintage patina and tarnishing consistent with age and use - this gives the piece its beautiful iridescent, antiqued appearance.
