Thereafter he played a B6Lb (a B6 with a tunable beryllium bell). How he came to play Schilke is an interesting story. Chase was romantically interested in a dancer who was performing in San Francisco. When Bill went to see her perform, he started talking shop, as is the habit among trumpet players, with one of the trumpet players in the ballet orchestra, a fellow for whom the original B6 was designed.After playing his, Chase had to have one.
