Vintage German WMF Silver Plate Madrid Cutlery Set. This beautiful setting is in very good condition.
This is an elegant pattern called Madrid. It features a stylish mid century design with a series of fine fanned lines to the handles topped with a decoration curve of dots. The set comprises 8 dinner forks, 8 dinner spoons, 8 teaspoons and 8 dinner knives. There are an additional number of spares mentioned at the end of the listing. The pieces are all marked for WMF and the also patent 90 for the thickness of the silver plating.
WMF is renown for its high quality cutlery and this is no exception. If you want something different, beautiful and special to grace your table this may well be the set. The silver plate to these pieces is in almost new condition with very minor scratches from use.
It is bright and reflective and there are no corrosion spots to the plating. The knife blades are bright and reflective and show no spotting or other marks. It is a beautiful and elegant set in amazing condition and will continue to impress your guests for many years to come. The 8 hollow handled dinner knives are 217mm long and have smooth stainless steel blades.
The 8 dinner forks are 195mm, the 8 dinner spoons or Continental Soup spoons are 196mm, the 8 teaspoons are 133mm long. This makes a total of 32 pieces. In addition there are spare pieces including 3 dinner spoons, 2 dinner forks, a teaspoon and 3 dinner knives.
The extra knives have a few marks and spots to the blades but are still very usable. Some of the other spare pieces have tiny spots here and there.For Imperial measurement users a handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches.
