No reproduction without prior written consent. We'll be sending out sale notices and special deals to our'Favorites' customers. Absolutely gorgeous & rare antique English Thomas Bradbury & Sons of Sheffield silver-plate 17 5/8" tall 120oz "tipper" style coffee kettle, highly ornate decoration AND with armorial style heraldry with knight's helmet, stallion & hand holding cross, "Ora Et Labora" & "Virtute Et Labore banner inscriptions! A complete and original ensemble consisting of three pieces, the large and exquisite kettle, ornate tri-footed base and even the old warmer insert. The base is heavy and bears no hallmarks but the kettle is a bit lighter and has the feel of sterling silver though it bears only the silversmith markings for Thomas Bradbury & Sons Sheffield from c. I'm actually contemplating sending it to our silversmith for testing, it just really does not feel like plate.

In any event, I can't date it exactly, there is a "crown" over "TB&S" in the shield hallmark and the use of this symbol in silverplate ware was forbidden by Sheffield Assay Office c. A magnificent piece and the armorial style engraving only adds to the value and visual appeal! The warmer insert has no wick and the plating is quite worn but it's fully intact otherwise. No loss of plating that I can see elsewhere and there is only one small dimple to the kettle body, along the lower curve and you really have to look to find it. It has a total weight of 2270 grams, the kettle alone is 1422gm.
