Antique Cutlery Canteen. 2 tier Mahogany Box. Viners & other. 73 pieces & key
Viners two tier in mahogany canteen box with key. Stands lovely on its four embellished feet. Box is 54cm wide x 40cm deep and 22cm high. Slide out bottom drawer that all locks with the original key.
The box is lozenged with Viners Ltd Sheffield by appointment to HM the King. There are pieces that have gone missing over the years and some substitutions. The majority of the knives are Viners as are the carving pieces. There are pieces of Firth Brearley stainless and the forks are only stamped dwts which I understand is the silver plate content, I dont know if these are Viners. The carving pieces and nearly all the large knives are marked Viners stainless deluxe. This is a mixed canteen but they all look well together as can be seen. Consists of:- 4 x large carving pieces. 13 x large dinner knives.12 x smaller forks 6 x large soup spoons. Mixture of stainless deluxe and epns. The box is in overall very good condition as shown , some of the slots for the knives have been damaged over time with use , but dont really detract from the elegance of this lovely canteen. Please study the images and do be aware this set is not complete and there are empty slots as shown and also note the mixture of makers that have been subsituted over time. Its not all Viners now.
