Antique Malay / Indonesian Silver Caping / Modesty Plate / Disk

This is a beautifully simple Antique Silver Caping / C haping / Modesty Plate / Shield from either Malaysia or Indonesia. Dates from the late 1800's to early 1900's. These heart shaped shields were worn by Babies / Children of Muslim families to cover their genitals. The caping was suspended from a Chain that would have been worn around the child's waist.

This Caping / Chaping has not been polished and retain it's original patina. Applying silver polish would drastically change the appearance of the item if you prefer a shinier / newer looking piece. Dimensions: 2 3/8 inches in Width and 2 7/8 inches in Height.
