Antique Malay / Indonesian Silver Caping / Modesty Plate / Disk

This is a superbly detailed Antique Silver Caping / Modesty Plate / Shield from Malaysia or Indonesia. This piece dates from the late 1800's to early 1900's. These heart shaped shields were worn by Babies / Children of Muslim families to cover their genitals.

The caping was suspended from a Chain that would have been worn around the child's waist. This Caping has not be en polished and retains it's original patina. Applying silver polish would drastically change the appearance of this item if you prefer a shinier / newer looking piece. Dimensions: 2 5/8 inches in Width and 2 3/4 inches in Height.
