Antique Victorian Inlaid Light Oak & Silver Plate Triple Decanter Tantalus Set

Quality light oak Tantalus - good condition - circa late 19th century. A nice late Victorian English Triple Decanter Tantalus presented in good condition. This great example had a trio of original cut-glass decanters, complete with stoppers, and are housed within a light oak and inlaid case.

The decanters sit into lined cubbies and enjoy a mirror back for additional display glamour. An original lock and key operate to secure the main compartment - this opens at which point the decanters can be removed. The butterfly doors fold back to reveal a useful storage area, with felt lined bottom. A pop-out lower drawer is activated by a hidden button. The case fittings are of silver plate; the flap hinges are of brass.

Overall a top quality and attractive original tantalus which will be wonderful in any home or collection. Scarce in this style and quality and offering the opportunity to be a perfect gift. Light wear to the felt linings from usage; marks on the bottle housing wear the stoppers have rubbed over the years. The lower drawer looks like it may have been pried in the past. Cosmetic damage only, and it is still fully functional.
