ART NOUVEAU FRENCH SILVER PLATE & ENAMEL, AMETHYST BELT & BUCKLE Piel Bros

Made by Peil Brothers, France C1900. Intricate silver in fleur-de-lys and beaded ribbons. The troughs between being filled, champleve fashion with creme enamel. The work being set with cabouchons of amethyst or deep purple glass.

The chains between at the front are English silver and occasionally marked with the sterling lion. These chains were probably inserted later to widen the belt..

The makers mark on the back of the central boss/ buckle is French in design and is for Piel Brithers. There is some loss to the enamel and damage to one of the cabouchons.

The back chain has lost the plating. A simply stunning piece of work.
