Here we have a silver plated sculpture by the esteemed French silversmiths Christofle. It shows an arrangement of violins, and is engraved on the front of one of them: Arman Dec 83.
To the rear is a new year message, in French and English from Albert Bouilhet, the Président-directeur général (PDG) of Christofle, sending customers his best wishes for 1984. In addition to the message, the usual Christofle maker's marks are present. The sculpture is in excellent condition and comes complete in its original box together with a short fact sheet on Arman, as originally included.
The box bears some slight usage marks but is in generally good condition. The sculpture measures 11cm x 10.5cm. The original sculpture is part of Arman's Accumulations series where everyday objects are multi plied and transformed into sculptural art.
It was issued to commemorate the French Museum Exhibition in Tokyo in 1883.
