Judaica Large Besamim Silver Plated Fish Garnet Eyes Spicebox. Vintage Very Rare to find a specimen of this size and weight. An amazing Very Rare Unusually large and heavy ornament beautifully designed, of very fine workmanship with superb articulation movement of the fish. This item has been in our family for over 30 years, bought in an antique dealer in Dubai in the early 1980s.

This vintage silver plated spice-box has been made in the form of a fish, an ancient symbol of abundance. The fish has an articulated body and as seen in the photos, its head lifts up to reveal a cavity for storing spices.

The fish has been made with a lot of details including garnet encrusted eyes, scales, and fins along with a large tail. The placement of the tail and fins located on the lower part of the body enable the piece to balance on a table or other flat surface. The spice-box is in very good condition with no missing pieces or repairs. The lid opens easily and latches close securely, keeping the contents safely inside. As a vintage item, this spice-box shows some signs of wear consisting of minor scuffs/scratches and oxidation to the surface which provide the piece with a natural aged patina.

This figural fish spice-box displays beautifully and would be a great addition to a collection of antique and/or vintage spice boxes.
