Elsie Ward Hering was one of a very few female sculptors who worked in Arft Nouveau style. She signed her Paris work as W. Hareng" (Hareng being "hering" in French) and is listed in Berman's book on bronzes as "Ward H.
She created many beautiful Art Nouveau objects in bronze and pewter. It is in excellent for the age condition - it may need some additional cleaning, but the plate is all intact, there is no damage or repairs, the marble pedestal shows some very minor wear.
