Rare Antique German BMF N Stork Mark Porcelain, Silver Plate Carnation Tray 1858
Here on offer is a rare and stunning antique German BMF N stork mark hand painted porcelain and metal tray, dating to 1858. This gorgeous tray features a large circular porcelain tile that has a beautifully hand painted transfer design of pink carnations against a white ground with pale blue shading. The tile is held in a silver plated art nouveau frame and with handles that features some elegant pierced decorations. There is some plate missing, showing the brass metal base. The back of the tile has a printed maker mark that has a stork with outstretched wings, it has BMF above and an N between the legs. I believe it stands for. Bayerische Metall Fabrik with the N for the town of Nagel. Below the stork it also has the date Dec 1858. Impressed into the tile around the rim, is. There is a geometric shaped stain that is identical on the front back, it is very pale on the front. Is being offered in good used antique condition, it measures about 36cm by 49.7cm and weighs 1047g. A wonderful rare collectable piece.
