For sale is a Victorian Art Glass Blown Glass Brides Basket. I do not know the glass maker. I have looked at so many brides basket to see who it could be but I never found one exactly like this one. The cobalt blue edging is scalloped and ruffled. It goes to light blue then to (yellow Vaseline) green.
It actually glows pinkish red under a blacklight. The underside of the bowl is white. The detail of the glass is beautiful and ornate with all of the crimping and pinching. I see two manufacture flaws where there is a pencil point raise in the glass.
It is not sharp and definitely not any damage. It is just how the glass was made. There are no cracks or chips. There are also no repairs that I can see either.
When I put a black light to the glass it glows red in the center and up through the yellow part of the bowl. Could this part be actually VASELINE GLASS? The bowl measures 9" by 9" across. It is 3 1/4 high from the ground.
IT is ornate and beautiful with scrolling and is footed. On the bottom is stamped W in a star with a spider web and the # 198 beside it. The only thing else I see is what looks like a signature hand written and etched on the side of the holder right under the rim. I cannot make it out.
Beside it are letters I think but again, that part could be a scratch. The whole thing measures 3/4 long and is very narrow. This is a beautiful and rare brides basket from the Victorian era. It would make a beautiful addition to any Victorian glass collection. It will come double boxed and securely wrapped.
