Rare David Andersen Gold Plated Sterling Silver Green Enamel Leaf Necklace
A very rare mid 20th century gold-plated sterling silver 925s green enamel necklace with a large twin leaf design. The bracelet is marked with scales (company mark), D-A (for David Andersen), Sterling Norway 925s and an encircled W denoting Willy Winnaess. David Andersen pieces from this era were routinely gold-plated with 24c gold. The enamel is in excellent condition with just some light patina to the metal. Spring lock closes securely and the necklace is approximately 39.5cm (15.5 inches) long. He established his own workshop in Christiania 1876, which eventually became a leading jewellery company in Norway. The company has been run by the David-Andersen family ever since, starting with his son (Arthur David-Andersen) and followed by his grandson (Ivar David-Andersen) and great granddaughter (Uni David-Andersen).
Willy Winnaess worked for David Andersen during the 1950s and 1960s and produced some of the most iconic designs for the company. He also established his own workshop in 1958 and his works are identifiable with an encircled w mark on his jewellery.
