Magnificent Bone China Stirrup Cup, in the form of a Bulls head, produced by Royale Stratford. The Stirrup Cup is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. Royale Stratford China was founded by John Hinks at St Mary's Mill, Longton (the Heart of The Potteries) in 1978.
Name changed to Stratford Bone China Ltd in December 1978. In 1996, following financial difficulties, receivers were appointed. In 2005, the business failed and John Hinks started Studio Hinks Fine Bone China. The stirrup cup collection is inspired by the unusual, rare and collectable drinking vessels of the Georgian Period. Beautifully sculpted in English fine bone china and adorned with a silver plated brass bezel, it is entirely free hand painted and signed by the artist, the stirrup cup design remains faithful to its antique counterpart. Should a stirrup cup be filled with a suitable liquid, it cannot be put down until the contents have been drained! The stirrup cup, measures 4/10cms wide, portrays the bull's head, with a wonderful pair of horns; beautifully painted in a range of brown and off white colouring. Backstamp reads " ROYALE STRATFORD / STAFFORDSHIRE / ENGLAND / HAND PAINTED LM (L Meredith)".
