Silver-Plated Art Deco Streamline Moderne Champagne Cooler Bucket, 19.5cm C. This superb silver-plated champagne bucket stands 19.5cm (7.75") tall and is 15cm (9.75") at the widest point measured across the twin handles and, while there is no maker's mark or other information stamped onto it to reveal its origins, the very typically Art Deco style suggests it dates to between the First and Second World Wars. Rather more simply decorated than the earlier forms of Deco, with a band of five lines running around the full circumference and handles two thirds of the way up, it seems reasonable to suggest it was likely made during the Streamline Moderne period of the mid-to-late 1930s. The thick rim and handles support this too. There is some minor pitting on the exterior but no serious scratches, and no dents at all.
We've polished it for the photos (it was very tarnished when it came to us), but not too much as some buyers prefer the patinated antique look.
