Superb Antique 14 Stag Horn & Oak Base W. H/l Silver Plate Dinner Gong & Striker

A C19th antique late Victorian period c1880 silver plate i. S (electroplated nickel-silver) dinner gong standing approximately 14 in (356 mm) high to the top of the stag horns on a solid oak base measuring 19.25 in (489 mm) x 5.5 in (140 mm). The plate is stamped with the maker W. H over L within a shield i. William Henry Lyde - Birmingham. The circular gong has a diameter of 9.75 in (248 mm) and produces a loud resounding sound with little effort.

The striker appears to be original and there is a large vacant shield shaped cartouche between the two horn supports. All are in very good condition with no damage and with all the plate in good order throughout. A lovely quality and impressive dinner gong which would look great in any situation.
