Victorian Aesthetic Meriden Silver Plate Brides Basket Blue Glass Enamel Bowl

Rich hand painted gold gilt on the notched cutting on the top of the bowl. The front of the bowl has detail of two putti (non-winged cherubs) toasting with flute champagne glasses with a lovely handled urn in between them.

On the outside of that detail, is a perched bird on the scroll work. The image on the back of the bowl is of a floral spray.

Also, hand gilt in a lacy circular pattern as an overlay. The base is well balanced, giving the piece a nice heft. It has fabulous detail of suns, organic flowers. The handle is circular with an attached band on the arc, and are decorated with an overlay of flowers and vine.

Attached at the handle peak are three disks or spoke wheels and flowers. The bowl rests in a central well that is smooth and shiny. Two florid sidepieces rise from the band to contain the glass bowl. The central bowl than tapers to rest on a raised base with four ornate feet with sea shell, sea scroll and gadroon.

Perfect for a Victorian parlor, or, for your entry table. Would be very nice to used for a fresh fruit salad. I have used it for decades on my buffet top to put my fresh fruit in to ripen. Mark on base: Meriden B Company 1545 O.

Size of Bowl: 8.75 across 3.75 high. Size of Stand: 13 H x 10.25 W x 7.75 D. Condition: Silver is in very fine condition.

It has been washed MANY times, and still looks fantastic. The bowl has one chip, and several flea bites.
