Victorian Vasta Case Walking Stick Cane Silver Plated Pommel Bamboo Shaft
Really rare Victorian bamboo wood and silver plated gadget walking stick or cane. Made to look exactly like a normal walking stick but the handle is hinged to one end to hide a vesta cane match box inside the handle.
Very rare to find example, by their nature not many exist as the mechanisms broke when used all the time. It measures 91 cm 35 3/4 inches in length, the handle is 9.5 cm 3 3/4 inches wide. The ferrule is original and made of brass and steel. It's in excellent condition but with some signs of age and. Use as you'd expect at this age. Numerous bumps, scratches and pitting to the silver as shown but no splits or holes. The shaft is excellent with no damage or repairs.
