Vintage Rodd Nemesia Silver Plate Cutlery Setting for 6. This beautiful setting is in good serviceable condition. The vintage cutlery set features one of Rodd's most popular and enduring designs called. Which was produced in Australia during the 1950's and 1960's. It features an embossed floral patterning to the handles either side of a plain raised panel.
The pieces are silver plated with stainless steel knife blades. The set is the first release of this pattern c 1950.
We can tell this by the way it has the Rodd marking to the back of the handle ends and that the spoon handles tuck under. All subsequent releases were marked to the base of the handle and the spoon handles turned up as the forks do.
The set presents well but there are some issues with the stainless steel blades as there is spot corrosion to the base of the blades as shown and some discolouration to the stainless steel. We have shown the worst markings and all the blades have some such markings to lesser degrees. The other silver plated pieces have fine scratches from use but no silver plate loss or spotting. One dessert spoon has a scratch to the bowl as shown. The vintage set comprises 6 hollow handled dinner knives.
6 hollow handled entree knives, 6 dinner forks, 6 entree forks, 6 dessert spoons, 6 soup spoons, 8 teaspoons, a table or serving spoon, sugar spoons and a cake server, making a total of 47 pieces.
