Width : 16.0 cm or 6 1/4 inch.Does have some silver loss, especially on the high figure detailing, also some thinning of silver plate on some of the flat surfaces, No nasty dents dints or nasty scratches, free from any breakages or old repairs, constructionally very good, no bends or twist, no splits or open joints. The silver work still looks wonderful, although silver loss is present, the front & rear panels with the battle scenes look wonderful, due to some silver loss the copper is highlighted. Its a wonderful piece of antique furniture that has tremendous presence. A very substantial and rather beautiful casket, always a great talking point. Inside the casket it still retains its original fitted 3 compartment removable tray, the lid lining is still in good order a old spot stain (can be removed), with the gold twisted satin braiding.
The 3 compartment tray also has the full gold and grey twisted silk braiding present (good condition) some of the compartments satin lining is frayed. The piano hinge is also perfect and the lid seals tightly as it should. Stands perfectly true without any wobbles or unevenness. A magnificent casket, wonderful presence. These caskets can demand prices of many thousands of pounds.Apologies for some of the reflections and shadows, photos were taken in a conservatory on a bright sunny day, hence the reflections of the sky and glass roof.
