WMF Silver Plated Art Nouveau Large Green Crystal Glass Claret Jug/ Ewer, Signed
Beautiful & Rare Original WMF Large Art Nouveau, Silver Plated, Green Crystal Glass Claret Jug / Ewer. Fully Signed, Special Order Mark, Running Ostrich, B Britannia Metal, Ox Oxidised, 1/0 Thickness of Silver.
Here we have the WMF Claret jug everyone wants, its very sort after and highly collectable, especially as this one is in exceptional condition and not over polished. Its a special order piece from the factory, which the mark confirms, its the largest of its type and a very substantial piece weighing approximately 1640 Grams. Its one of the most beautiful WMF claret jugs, featuring the maidens head on both sides of the jug base with a large flower in her hair, her flowing hair also creates the glass frame cage and base. The top of the jug is adorned by a very impressive finial and the silver plated Britannia metal collar is decorated with flowing flowers (maybe Lillys).
The handle is also a piece of art, with the continuation of beautiful Art nouveau lines from the top of the jug to the base. Please checkout the photos as they will explain better than I can write. Wonderful craftsmanship as you would expect on a special order from the German Maker WMF.
The green Crystal Glass is also original, its in absolute perfect condition , no clouding or and form of damage whatsoever, its retained its correct shade of green, no light or dark areas. Width including handle & base Overhang : 19.5 cm. Exceptional Condition, No silver loss, no dents or dints, no Scratches, no buckles or twists, no damage whatsoever.
The Silver plate is in the correct condition, not over polished and has a beautiful mellow Sheen. The pourers lids operates as it should, opens and closes perfectly with the hinge in excellent order. The Green Crystal Glass is perfect, no nibbles, cracks or scratches, no clouding and fits the cage perfectly, completely damage free.
The jug sits perfectly and 100% true and straight , no wobble issues. A wonderful example in exceptional condition.
