WMF Stunning Art Nouveau Silver Plated Britannia Silver, Liqueur Service, Signed
Stunning WMF Art Nouveau Silver Plated Liqueur Service. Fully Hallmarked with the running Ostrich, 0/1 thickness of Silver used, plus B Britannia Silver. Here we have a beautiful WMF Art Nouveau silver plated Liqueur Service, listed and photographed in the WMF Art Nouveau Domestic Metalwork 1906, Page 129, No168. Firstly the Liqueur tray with the lady is 100% original, however the Liqueur Cups and Liqueur decanter are replacements and shall be included in the sale. This very elegant WMF liqueur service tray / stand is in remarkable condition, no silver loss only slight rubbing to the underside of one off the glass inserts.
The WMF tray has six countersink inserts for the liqueur cups/ glasses and of course the lightly clad lady is holding the decanter holder. The detail that has been worked into the lady, her clothes, hair and face is simply magnificent, typical of WMF workmanship, one of the best metalware companies in the world. The photos will describe this piece better than I. Height of stand with decanter & finial : 40cm.
Height without decanter : 23.8cm. Weight without decanter & cups : 869 Grams. Excellent condition, no silver loss, a little rubbing underneath the tray on surface contact area. The tray stands straight and no wobbles.This service is in wonderful condition , however its not brand new its 120 years old, it must show some wear during this time. Its a beautiful piece undoubtedly one of the finest you shall see, rarely do they come for sale in this condition. The cups and decanter are perfect.
