WMF Superb Art Nouveau Silver Plated & Fine Cut Crystal Claret Jug Ewer, Signed

Beautiful WMF Large Art Nouveau Silver Plated Claret / Wine Jug / Ewer, Silver Plated Mount & Very Rare Design Fine Diamond Cut Lined Crystal Glass. Here we have a very beautiful and large early example of a WMF Art Nouveau silver plated in Britannia silver finish Jug / Ewer with a very rare fine diamond cut crystal glass lined (engine turned) body, its an amazing piece of quality, Style and workmanship. The top of the jug mount has an intricate Art Nouveau Floral, swags and tails, plus a trellis work design with stunning large daisies flowers on both sides, it has a beautiful scroll handle with the supporting silver plated structure tapering down to the glass. Please check the photos as they will explain better than me. This is a very substantial piece of WMF weighing an impressive 1275 Grams, it has a wonderful presence and displays beautifully.

The crystal Glass design is very rare, I can only describe it as very fine diamond cut lines (similar to engine turning on silver) approx 1mm between the lines, how WMF managed this technique 130 years is amazing, visually it creates an optical illusion. The WMF marks are on the lower supporting structure of the handle, a little small, however they are very clear, plus a further mark on the counter leaver lid opener. The lid hinge is very strong and straight and the lid fits perfectly into the pourer lip. Exceptional condition as this jug / Ewer has no silver loss, its mount is also dent, dint and scratch free, no buckling of the metal, also free from any metal fatigue or discolouration. The fine cut crystal glass is also free of any cracks, nibbles or scratches to the display surface, on the base contact to the surface side, there are some very fine scratches, however this is to be expected, however absolutely nothing that would detract from it beauty or exception condition.

The jugs lid is free from any damage whatsoever, hing is very heavy duty, strong and true. Its has three vacant cartouches.

There is a very fine identity mark on the inside of the lid which reads Windsor and a number , however this was done professionally and can not be seen, very common on such pieces. Width including handle widest point : 18cm. Diameter of Crystal Mouth opening : 6cm.

Height of Crystal Glass only : 26cm. Base Diameter : 11.5 cm.
