WMF Superb Silver Plated Art Nouveau Cut Crystal Biscuit Barrell, Signed, C1900
Superb WMF Silver Plated Art Nouveau Cut Crystal biscuit Barrel. Here we have an absolutely superb WMF silver plated Art Nouveau Cut crystal Glass biscuit Barrell. The barrell is cut crystal and is the original cut crystal barrel, beautifully diamond cut with oval circles with a inner oval circle, very much like an eye. Very clever and wonderful craftsmanship. The Frame is has a fixed handle decorated with wheat sheafs on the top corners of the handles its lid has a machine turned round handle rather like a finial, its very polished and fits the crystal Barrell perfectly. Lower down on the base it also has machine turned line borders with floral fret work, berries and leaf. This piece is in remarkable condition, its at least 120 years old and it looks as good now as it did when it came from WMF.
Of course is displays beautifully and remarkable its in such wonderful condition. Height of Barrel without lid : 14cm. No Silver Loss whatsoever, No dents, dints, scratches, fret work is perfect, no out of line metal work, handles are strong and straight. Crystal barrell is in amazing condition, top of the glass is 100% perfect, no chips, nibbles, or cracks, the bottom of the glass contact surface has no scratches, rubbings, one very micro flaw / dint in the glass edge bottom, can not be seen, please check photos, only mentioning to be very accurate. The crystal glass is very clear, no blemishes or stains, as the saying goes CRYSTAL CLEAR.
